Exciting Parties Held at the Regatta Village at Nanny Cay

Tortola, BVI – February 22, 2023. A golden occasion for the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival as it celebrates fifty years of sailboat racing in the pristine waters of the British Virgin Islands, the team behind this beloved Regatta are making sure that this will be the “Be All and Best” celebration. Be sure to pack your boat shoes and your party wear because our event sponsors are on-board to ensure that this will be an event to remember!

The regatta will be hosted and organized out of Nanny Cay Resort and Marina, which has been the gracious and accommodating Host Sponsor of the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival for over 15 years. Set in one of the finest and most central locations in the BVI, Nanny Cay is located on the south side of Tortola, between Road Town and West End. Nanny Cay provides the best marine services and facilities in what is one of the most popular sailing destinations in the world today.

Nanny Cay will sponsor the first race of the Sailing Festival on Tuesday March 28, the Round Tortola Race for the Nanny Cay Cup. All parties will start and finish every evening in the Regatta Village, hosted by Nanny Cay.

Scrub Island Resort, Marina and Spa is once again excited to sponsor The Scrub Island Invitational on Wednesday March 29th, a western island morning race of approximately 15 NM to the beautiful Scrub Island Resort where race participants are welcomed at a fabulous beach party and BBQ for the afternoon: pool side bars, ocean toys, great food and plenty to drink. The race gives sailors an opportunity to shake out the sailing cobwebs.

The well-known red cap will be seen on every race participant on the water and in the Regatta Village, thanks to Mount Gay Rum, who will do it up with a fantastic Mount Gay bar beachside with great rum drinks after the Mount Gay Race Day awards ceremony on Friday March 31. Get your red hat and enjoy Mount Gay all night long on Mount Gay Race Day.

Nanny Cay Marina will be Full of Amazing Race Boats

The 70s were an auspicious time for the BVI Spring Regatta, with the event being launched in 1972, and a fun-filled day looking back to the 1970s will celebrate that special year on Saturday April 1 (no joke) following the second day of racing. The highlight party event on Saturday night will be presented by new event sponsor SHRM Group, highly specialised providers of trust and corporate services. Racing crews: wear your fun and fabulous 70s outfits on the racecourse. Prizes will be awarded at the SHRM VIP party tent for best costumes.

“SHRM is delighted to be part of such this year’s BVI Spring Regatta as the event celebrates its 50th Anniversary, coinciding with SHRM celebrating its 25th Anniversary,” Reid Thurlow, Managing Director of SHRM, commented. “We look forward to being immersed in the 70s theme party and judging / awarding prizes to the sailing teams taking on the 70s party atmosphere and spirit.”

Carib Beer, in its famed yellow bottles, will be abundantly available and ready for sailors in six-packs and coolers at the Regatta Village. Celebrate at the Saturday party with special drinks at the Carib Bar.  Tito vodka will be serving unique cocktails prepared for the 50th anniversary. What’s a Caribbean regatta without ice cold beer to quench the thirstiest of thirsts?

Moko Jumbies will Entertain Kids and Adults

The week-long BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival will wrap up with a final party following the awards ceremony on Sunday night, with live entertainment including the ever-popular Moko Jumbies and a Caribbean steel pan band.
